Hi folks,
This post is about a new parameter in the File Geodatabase writer in FME, which lets you take an ArcGIS XML Workspace Document (what I would call a template) and create a new Geodatabase from that.

This is the first of what I hope will be many video Evangelists – could you call them a podcast? – as I’m finding some functionality is easier to demonstrate than to write about. In this one my colleague Robyn Rennie is sitting alongside and driving the demonstration, as she’s one of our Esri experts at Safe Software.

The basic idea is that ArcGIS now lets you save the skeleton of a Geodatabase, and that FME will read that to create a new one. The best part is that you can create it and fill it with data simultaneously, as the video shows.

From about 6:15 onwards the video also shows that we didn’t rehearse the recording in any way!

Hope this is useful,

Regards
